Happened in Hanaa – Vol. 4: June 23–29, 2025

Most of the week went into polishing and finalizing things for the upcoming June release. Working on the winter track during midsummer felt oddly exotic.

  • Winter track finalized. The new winter track is now complete, featuring snowfall, stormy weather effects, and icy surface shaders—some borrowed from the now-retired old version. I’d love to experiment more with shaders, but finding the time is always a challenge.
  • Surface physics added to winter and night tracks. Both now use varying friction values, which lead to some unexpected results. There’s still work to do on the roll sounds for different surfaces, and the first version will likely have a few wild slides and inconsistencies.
  • UI touch-ups. Fixed some button background bleeding and a few minor layout issues. These things keep reappearing, so I’m clearly doing something wrong...
  • Goal post collider fix. Turns out the goal post colliders were misplaced, occasionally letting cars drive right through them. No idea how I missed that for so long, but it’s fixed now.

If all goes well, version 0.4.0 will be out tomorrow. After that, I’ll be away from my dev setup for a week, so next week’s update might be a short one.
